Weird Kingdom by Gigi Rooks

If you’re looking for a funny absurdist fantasy with talking animals, look no further.

The main human in the story is Myka, a teenage girl, whose unhappy life is disrupted by the discovery that her cat can talk. Various other talking animals and a magic portal compound her problems, adventure happens.

This book is certainly funny, to the point where the humour can become irritating (YMMV). The other major failing is that the sudden outbreak of talking animals and the portal they control is never actually explained.

The writing is good in places, readable throughout, and reasonably well edited, though there are some errors.
