Young Michi and his friends are committed to the struggle, but he hasn’t told them he’s got magical talent. His instinctive use of magic brings him to the attention of the authorities, who want control of all mages. Michi wants to overthrow the Magocracy, but he’s got friends and enemies on both sides. Things don’t go well for him.
The writing is on the stodgy side but fairly well edited, and the plot ticks along nicely, with plenty of twists and turns, and some funny bits. The setting is not developed in any depth but there’s a blood-based magic system to enjoy.
